Intelligent Electric Vehicle Charging System (IEVCS) is designed to help build Ontario’s clean energy future. The presentation will analyze the effects of electric vehicle charging on transformers by creating a real-time transformer monitoring and analytics solution. Each transformer in the field has a DTM (Distributed Transformer Monitoring) device associated with it which is compliant with DNP3 protocol. DNP3 Protocol is for communications between various types of data acquisition and control equipment, mainly used in the energy and utility domain.
The session covers the project for real-time monitoring of the transformers and OpenDNP3 Master Application that enables a user to receive data points from multiple Outstation DTM devices and stores the data into SQL Anywhere Database.
