Many industrial process facilities today consist of disparate, constrained systems that can’t handle end-to-end process systems—a challenge often amplified by small budgets. Operating across various systems leads to costly integrations and maintenance, and often limited security and data visibility. Digital transformation now allows producers to take advantage of enabling technologies and advanced system capabilities to establish fully connected enterprises for intelligent, plantwide control.
One such producer, Red Cedar Gathering (RCG), realized these challenges and partnered with ACES Engineering and Rockwell Automation to standardize process control and network architecture across its natural gas processing and compression systems. RCG migrated operations to a new, virtualized DCS for standardized, integrated and central control across three processing facilities and 20 compressor stations. The modern solution leveraged an advanced, intuitive operator interface, helping the company gain expanded visibility into their process for improved response time. Through plantwide control, operators can now make faster decisions, leading to reduced system bottlenecks and downtime, better productivity and increased profitability.
